Prometheus brings fire

Discussion of the underlying meaning and metaphors of the myth of mankind's
creation and suffering.  Prometheus was a Titan in greek mythology and the god
of forethought. He was charged with creating man from the clay of the earth. He
stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind to save them from death and
suffering. For his punishment, the gods chained him to a rock where an eagle
would visit him everyday and eat part of his liver. The liver would regrow at
night and the eagle would come back the next day for the next round of never
ending torture.
